2018 Ford Explorer

The Ford Explorer is an SUV for Drivers Who Want a Bit of Everything

Well-rounded is the Ford Explorer's middle name. This SUV hits the mark on utility, passenger comfort, and safety alike. Those looking for a versatile SUV near Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, or Norlfolk are well-served to check it out. The new Explorer is equally at home hitting the road for a family trip, hauling lawn care gear, and conquering challenging weather. To say it lives up to the Explorer nameplate would be a severe understatement.

Built to Take You Places

The 2018 Explorer has a dizzying list of performance and utility features. First, its three engine options provide ample power with any trim. Ranging from 280 to 365 horsepower, each one has the grit to get the job done. From there, it gets even better. Standard roof racks and up to 81.7 cubic feet of interior cargo space mean hauling luggage or equipment is a breeze. Available four-wheel drive makes easy work of less-than-ideal road conditions or trails. Plus, when properly equipped with features like Trailer Sway Control and AdvanceTrac Traction Control, the Explorer can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Designed to Take the Whole Crew

Third-row seating means the Explorer can carry up to seven passengers, and available modern amenities mean they'll be comfortable. Here are just a few options:

  • Heated and Cooled Leather Seats
  • Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
  • 10-Way Power Adjustable Driver's Seat
  • 500-Watt Sony Audio System (Platinum Only)
  • LED  Lighting
  • Second-Row Bucket Seats

The Explorer keeps its passenger not only comfortable, but safe, too. A network of driver-assistance programs work together to automatically react to conditions and keep passengers out of harm's way.

New for 2018

The Explorer won't see major updates for 2018, but Ford has added a few new features. On the outside, a new grille, fog lights moderately, and four new paint choices enhance styling. Plus, models with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine will get quad-tip exhaust. On the inside, the 2018 Explorer will get a 4G LTE modem and Wi-Fi hotspot.
